Halle Berry set to jump the interracial broom
"I will never, never get married again." That was Halle Berry swearing off marriage in 2007. Well, never say NEVER!! because...
The well renowned actress and her French fiancée actor Olivier Martinez are about to say "I do!" The two who have been engaged since March 2012 are set to get married this weekend according to reports by People magazine.

"When I first met Olivier, there wasn’t the initial ‘I’m in love!’ It was something that grew more gradually -- and it feels more real because of that," she said. "[Marriage] is another one of those never-say-never things. I’m a hopeless romantic, and I won’t stop till I get it right!"
Martinez, Berry and her daughter Nahla flew to Paris on Tuesday. According to rumors, the wedding might be in France but its still unclear whether that’s their final destination. The pair are expecting a baby boy in early fall. As for their son’s mixed identity, Martinez told the PEOPLE: "My son will be an American."
Well hope this time she gets its right. All the best to this interracial celebrity couple.

Halle jumping the interracial broom? Really? Since she is interracial how is she jumping the interracial broom? And is this the first time? Not that any of it should matter. Glad to be living in a time when people can marry as they choose -- black, white, or whatever.

Jana12, you are absolutely correct. This is a free country, you are free to express yourself, without any bodily harm to anyone, else. People are free to marry whoever they want to marry. And, those who disagree are free to disagree.

Karamel --- you are right. Race is (unfortunately) a MAJOR part of our lives. I have always felt myself to be a black woman in a white woman's body & so have all my friends. I've identified with black culture my entire life & most (if not all) of my friends were of mixed races and/or black. Can't explain why --- it was just my comfort zone & in my gut. Wish we could all get beyond the color barrier, but that will never happen.

Why are you all fighting like it is personal? Halley berry is half and half obviously who care if she chooses a side either way its not major because its something common for her she can do and be with whom ever she wants to be. its not really interracial since she is half anyways. either way their baby will be beautiful and part of both of them so yall need to get a life and stop getting mad over things that do not affect any of yalls lives. stay bless.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't be having this discussion, heck wouldn't even have this site. Unfortunately race is huge part of our lives and should be discussed, not swept under a rug. I believe having a respectful adult dialogue can bridge communication and understanding. I do believe some people are shocked that Halle identifies herself as black, because her mother is white. I, myself do the same. No matter how many different races my origin comes from, I'm black. When I was dating a white man, society as well as we did, identified ourselves as an interracial couple. This is the world we live in.

Halle Berry is clearly black and she herself says so. Why are you mad because she doesn't check white?

Seriously people? A mixed girl raised by her white mother, and you think she's jumping the color barrier? Maybe last time, but not this one.

She has consistently referred herself as black( in an interview her mother understood it and supported her) and one of the issues she had with her baby-father was the fact she wanted her daughter to identify as being black as well. The reality is that society looks at her as black. So it's not a stretch at all.

I agree with you on this. I'm a black woman, and when I read the title "...set to jump the interracial broom" I thought to myself, would the article have had that title if the man she is marrying were black? She is not jumping any kind of color barrier, because she IS half-white. Bottom line, no matter what society "sees" her as, or what she calls herself, she is IN FACT, half-white. That is a fact, and NOTHING can change that. I have extended family members that have blonde hair and blue eyes, no one would ever in a million years guess that they have a full black grandfather, and a half-black mother, but they DO. That's like people always talking about Barack being the first black president, when in fact he is only half-black, but...since his skin color is not white, people want to dismiss and ignore the white part. However, facts are facts. Halle is a beautiful woman, I admire her for so many reasons, AND I buy and wear her perfume :) I wish her all the best.

I agree with what a few others have said. She is mixed 1/2 white and 1/2 black. So IMO no jumping the race broom here.
