MY MIRAGE

What do I see when I look at you, do I see our destiny or time rushing by, images of yesterday flashing before me, never stopping to rewind.

Your face is there among the blurred distorted moments of my life. You come into focus as clear as a ripe Georgia peach on a dying tree. Only to vanish as your inspiration turns into a mirage.

I thirst for that nectar of yesterday. Sweet, warm energy trickling through my veins. Sensations enveloping me like a blanket of hope.

I reach out to grab sound bites of time. Holding on, as they slip away. My mind dances among the circle of colors left behind - blood reds, bluest indigo, flecks of devious green.

They dance with laughter at us, for us, knowing we will reach for this song one day. Only to find the memory of a single, solitary horn blurring bliss filled air that draws us into the unknown.

As the notes fade into the night time sounds, my mind once again skips towards those words that brought me closer -

"my heart is still pounding for you."
