They Planned Everything Except Falling in Love

Mike and C’ne were having trouble making time to meet other single people in the course of their daily lives. They could jump on the computer now and then, though. Why not use those spare moments for online dating?

Many, many singles turn to sites like ours for very much the same reasons C’ne and Mike did. Seems like free time is hard to come by these days! So these two put up profiles when they had a chance and browsed the site when schedules allowed.

Asked if they were confident about falling in love, C’ne and Mike didn’t hold back. “Not at all” and “skeptical” were their responses. But, that didn’t stop them from trying. And not only were they proven wrong, it didn’t take long to do it. C’ne was a member of our site for two months and Mike for three when they met.

“I sent her a message,” Mike says. C’ne seemed like a “unique, interesting onion” and he was fascinated by her many layers. This was no ordinary woman! “She was similar to my type, but filled with unique qualities,” Mike elaborates.

Despite the fact that C’ne admits Mike was “completely opposite” to the guys she was used to dating, something about him really appealed to her. “He was a brainiac,” she says. Ultimately, her man’s intelligence was a turn-on.

“We spoke on the phone for about 90 minutes the first time,” Mike tells us. Apparently, that long conversation convinced them to pore over those crowded schedules and find time for a date.

When they did, there were surprises for both of them. “This chick is prettier in person,” Mike remembers thinking. C’ne’s first impression was “Wow, he’s actually cute.” Mike got so comfortable that he fell asleep on the couch. How often does THAT happen on a first date? Unless you’re sleep-deprived, it’s probably a good sign.

In this case, it was. Mike and C’ne felt right at home in each other’s presence and were “absolutely” convinced they’d see each other again. And they did—the next day, in fact.

“I’m happier now than ever before,” she says. “I got real lucky!” There was an innocence about Mike that C’ne didn’t pick up from his profile. Hearing that, Mike jokes that at first he didn’t notice his lady-love’s “gangster” side.

One day, the couple went for a long drive. “We pulled over and I popped the question,” Mike says. “I haven’t been this genuinely happy since I was a toddler!”

Mike turns from tyke to philosopher when he considers his unexpected path from single life to soon-to-be married. “It's funny how sometimes you feel like everything is planned out and then stuff just happens,” he says. “You can't plan life, or love.”

Nope! All you can do is give it a shot and hope for the best. That worked for Mike and C’ne.
