How would you describe yourself?
I'm an independent filmmaker and freelance cinematographer and editor.
Some of my interests are photography, art, animation, free running/parkour and reading (particularly literature and history).
I love live music, particularly jazz, but am not too picky about my musical tastes and usually find a few artists in every genre that I can enjoy. Generally I'm a fan of Jazz, Motown, classic rock, rap (particularly 90's/early 00's) and some EDM & trance.
I've been in NYC about 5 years now working in the indie film community and love getting out and exploring the city and visiting new neighborhoods (there's always more to see here).
Also of note, I am relatively non traditional (not only in my work but also in my love life). What I mean by that is I am "partnered, ethically non-monogamous". A mouthful, right? And slightly pretentious as well. Other people have described me as that and it seems to make some sense. Other's just call it polyamorous.
What does it all mean? It means there is a woman in my life who I love very much. We have an open relationship and we both date other people and have other relationships (sometimes serious and committed, sometimes casual) and I don't believe that monogamy is inherent to a successful relationship. Some people have a big problem with this very non traditional idea, which is fine. Maybe we can just be friends.
I am looking for
I'm looking for someone open-minded and fun. Vague, I know.
Preferably someone with an appreciation for the arts and an interest in film or theater in particular. Someone who works in the arts or entertainment and can share this interest with me would be ideal.
Turn-ons: Intelligence, curiosity, wit, good-humor (ie. ability to take a joke, don't be so sensitive), compassion, ambition.
Turn-offs: Laziness, selfishness, closed-mindedness & prejudice, arrogance
I don't have strong racial preferences, I don't care if you smoke, and it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor or what you do for a living, but it's those greater qualities I listed above that truly important to me.
