The fairy tale online dating connection

It may seem unimaginable that one would meet their childhood crush on an online dating site, right? Well, it’s not. Online dating has opened up all kinds of possibilities in the dating world.

We always hear young crush stories here and there. But can you remember your childhood sweetheart? Have you ever thought of the possibility that some day in future, a wedding will come out it? For me, all that is left of my childhood crush is just a sweet memory. But for this one couple, the cards were different for them.

Your perfect partner could be online right now...

What are you looking for?

Justin Pounders and Amy Giberson were childhood sweethearts 30 years ago. And when I say childhood, I mean when they were in pre-school. The two attended school at the same time as their moms confirmed. Both of them were 3 years old. They had this shy kind of romance if you get what I mean. They played together, ate their lunches together…

But as it usually happens, people grow up, change schools and lose touch. And the memory of this connection they had faded away. However, these two got reunited 30 years later. And as I write this they are now married, thanks to online dating. Clearly, this is one of those things that are meant to be.

Their former preschool teacher, Diane Twar, remembers their special connection all too well. She told People.com:

“They had a blast with each other. It was a quiet, bashful romance. They liked each other from afar, it was a young love, like a sweet crush, you know? They insisted on sitting next to each other in our school picture.”

After meeting on the dating site, Amy could not remember her childhood crush. However, when she saw his Justin’s profile, coincidentally she just sent him a message.

Peter told People.com:

“I saw her photo and for whatever reason, was instantly drawn to her. She just had this great energy, you could tell. I can’t explain it, but I knew I had to get to know this girl.”

It seems the two made an instant connection with one another. And as the story goes, they began texting and calling one another, not knowing that in another lifetime, they had a connection too. Well, they decided to meet for their ‘first’ date at a restaurant. And as much as they still couldn’t recognize one another, they hugged. As Amy puts it, she felt as though they had known each other forever saying: “When I first saw him, I felt that I was staring at the man I was going to marry.”

The date seemed to have gone pretty well as they saw each other every day after that. And just as in preschool, the two were immediately infatuated with one. Their love for each other blossomed instantly.

Now, the discovery that they knew each other before happened a year after their first date.

“We were in the car and Justin casually mentioned that he loved my name because he had had a crush on a girl named Amy in his preschool. Then I joked to him, ‘Well, it’s not me, so I don t want to hear about her!’”, Amy recounts. But as they kept talking about the schools they attended, they realized they attended the same school at the same time.

They asked their parents to dig up old preschool photos. And there they were. And when she saw this, Amy was ecstatic and emotional. “It was definitely meant to be,” she says.

Their special online dating success story went viral after they were featured on on ABC’s The View. Justin saw an opportunity and popped the question live on the show. And it was one extraordinary and the most romantic proposal. The show aired a message with children from their former preschool holding a sign that read: ‘Amy, will you marry me?’

Amy tearfully said yes and tied the knot in St Petersburg, Florida, after a two-year relationship. “His love has brought my heart and life so much happiness, LOVE, laughter, and peace. I’ve never known a peace like this until I met this man”, says Amy. For these two, this is the Fairytale kind of love.

Still skeptical about online dating? Well, looking at the success stories, and Amy and Justin, the impossible happens with online dating and it’s about time people embraced it.
