Interracial or same race relationships?

Halle Berry, President Barack Obama … both are mixed race Americans. However, the media and most Americans see them as Black. But if memory serves me well, they are both half-white.

Find your soulmate on InterracialDatingCentral

Most of us have chosen not to see President Obama’s marriage to Michelle as an interracial marriage. Most of us have chosen to see Halle’s relationship to Gabriel Aubrey as an interracial relationship. So, if our president isn’t in an interracial marriage, shouldn’t the same be said for Halle’s relationship since she has white blood in her too?

We Americans seem to have made our race issues more about colorism, where actual skin pigmentation is the basis for deciding what race one is. As Americans diversify through interracial marriage, it seems to be more difficult to differentiate race; so skin color is now being used to assess others, I guess. This explains why we have chosen to suddenly drop the ‘White’ in Obama and Halle and label them ‘Black’.

An interracial relationship is one where there is marriage, sexual or romantic relations between individuals of different races. Halle Berry is mixed race. If her relationship with Aubrey is interracial, don’t you think the same should be said for Obama and Michelle’s?

We can’t run from who we are. We shouldn’t blind ourselves to the fact that Obama and Halle are mixed race … half-white … half-black. Who are we to erase their Caucasian backgrounds out of this equation? So they look black. But does this make them less white?

If one of them is in a same-race relationship, then both are since they have half of both worlds. So, which is which? Interracial or same-race?

To whom it may concern: Matthew 7:6 "Give not that which is Holy unto dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine , lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you." And like I mentioned in my response to E-dub in that other topic about people with a particular set of beliefs are not respected as merely having an opinion, they are always "looked down upon" or thought to be crazy or missing something. You can't subliminally look down on someone or their beliefs and not expect them to defend themselves or their beliefs and opinions especially if you're not trying to help them, which in this case (and in my personal opinion), the person is in no need of assistance but is more coherent and cognizant, not to mention respectful, of the issues regarding themselves as well as others around them than a person of their "ilk" is ever given credit for. Ever hear of stereotyping? And as the saying goes, "Those who forget the past are doomed to relive it." I just threw that one in for free. Many issues and/or topics of discussion that come up in our lives, as seperate and as exclusive as we think they are (Situational Ethics), they are actually connected, interlaced, related, or spill over much like the comments from one thread have into another. I said all of that to say this:

Boots(this is not directed at you but I'm dealing with a passive aggressive person, so I have to use the language they speak, although directness is my style. Please bear with me.) This is the problem here. Racism and prejudice are NOT in the past. It's still alive and well. All you have to do is make a certain group angry and they will let you know. Why do you think the Rush Limbaugh's, Neal Boortz, and Glen Becks can incite so many people with what they say.It isn't because they are easily influenced but because he speaks to what they ALREADY feel. That's just one example of the microcosm that exist. This doesn't run in a small group of people either. That's enough of that...because I don't explain my self to you, just not important enough. See, SOME black people want to always say to you "let go of the past". They turn all as you said boots,"peace and love on you". Utopian thinking over simplifies things, it makes it easier to gloss over and imagine things like, thinking a white man couldn't be racist or racism is over because he likes black women(even though he's married to a white woman or he still has you on "girlfriend" status after years of dating,LOL). I'm the LAST one to live in the past and I'm perfectly happy with how I TACKLE life,my life in particular. As I said before I simply enjoy this blogging/posting and will continue to do so. "Cynism and self-hatred", LOL, "Utopian language", moving on...doesn't apply to me,:-). Boots(rhetorical question but you CAN answer if you want, lol), are we being judged on our choices of who we like as a blogger(Mr. L Queens)???? Some may not like his posts but he makes valid points and I like them. Isn't that MY choice?? See some people want to make you think that they are objective...as long as you like who and what THEY like. Sounds kinda like fascism to me( boots,I'm being sarcastic)lol. Who says you are balanced?? That's your opinion. Balance is relative, thank you. Boots, it has implied that as believers we,"stand around singing spirituals in the hopes of peace". Boots, I see many belivers helping our communities, offering assistance and encouragement. Drug and youth ministries, feeding the homeless. YOU and I KNOW what we do as christians.People like Beautybeyondwords going into the prisons to spead the gospel to the "written off". Can't STAND singing when you are MOVING, helping. Never request that people do what YOU yourself won't do. Admonishing people to let go of the past and "LET DOGS DIE...PERIOD" but every other post you are explaining yourself over and over. Utopian thinking is a REAL concept and a REAL term and it isn't an individual thing so how do you know I'm even addressing an individual in particular??? Looks to me, everytime I express myself, "internet thuggery" is used so, I have to differ with the opinion on that. Boots, Thank you for bearing with me on this. Stay up! Peace, I owe my brother a home-cooked pancake breakfast with eggs.LOL.

Boots.....I totally respect what you have to say. (and most of what I am about to type is not in response to YOUR post.....LOL). But I have to let it be known that I am a proponent of "GETTING ON WITH THE GET ALONG". Respect the history but also know that not everyone is on the same page. THAT IS ALL.....NO UTOPIAN THINKING HERE....Just TRYING (not being perfect) to implement OBJECTIVE BALANCE. Truth and reality don't frighten or repel me; it is the future of that are "stuck" that SADDENS me. I have always respected others choices. it is just ridiculous that people just can't let go of the past. It is simple; if you don't grow you WILL parrish....not a threat, just a time-proven fact. I have never been one for standing around singing "spirituals" in hopes of peace. I am more about attacking this thing on an individual basis. I WILL speak out to the individual I hear on the street corner spouting racist crap....be it black, white or whatever. (neva scurred....lol) Just because I don't practice "internet thugggery" with everyone that expresses themselves doesn't mean I am "patting them on the back". Sometimes it's best to LET DOGS LIE.....PERIOD. (dogs can be honest creatures....LOL). But I guess that can be understood since others like admiring "trolls" here. People really need to stop following the blinded (by cynicism and self-hated) around every curve. Everything doesn't need to be twisted to be understood....sometimes things are PLAIN AND SIMPLE....and ALOT of times it is real easy to MAKE them that way (if the effort is taken). Peace and Blessings

@boots You are certainly welcome. Thank you for being a fan. You spoke truth, of which I am a fan. I find that most people are offended by truth and more importantly reality. I guess because they both can be quite unpleasant. Yes,I am fully persuaded to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has blessed, taught me and given me favor. I'm glad to know that you too are a believer. I want to encourage you to stay strong in your faith because you have to be strong in this day where believing in and following Christ is considered "silly". I'm the happiest, silliest person I know,LOL(sarcasm laced with truth). I like Mr. Queens style, lol. I enjoy this blogging/posting thing, lol and he mixes it up. I like being the "devil's advocate" too,LOL. Peace unto you

@boots, Oh my! You speak the truth. I believe in trying to get along with other races of people but it's hard when you have a whole race that won't really acknowledge what they are responsible for. I believe that's FIRST step after wronging someone,is to make amends. I haven't seen that for blacks. I am attracted to white men just like I'm attracted to black men, hispanic men, native-american men, etc. That's because I'm a woman and human but I refuse to place white men on a pedestal, like I have seen on his very blog. I have seen some black women come on here and defend a white man married to a white woman who confesses he is NOW interested in black women(he is still married). He gets a pat on the back and branded "honest" by a black woman. I have also seen on this blog another black woman come on here and totally brag about her "white boyfriend", her words not mine,. Yet, he hasn't made ANY plans to marry her. Carrying on the sentiment that white men will sleep with us under the "boyfriend" umbrella but not take us home to meet mom and tell her of his proposal to us. Utopian thinking is not for us. It causes us to not accept reality and accept actions that others wouldn't normally accept. Yes, I admit I'm on this blog to expand my dating horizons but black men are always on my list and I love them because of their strength, the physical, emotional and mental kind, and oh yeah, that natural "swagger" they seem to ooze without a word, LOL. Peace

Would it make a difference if you needed Blood and they said well we got some of the blood from a White or Black if you Butt wanted to live it wouldn't really make a difference would it. Be part of the Solution, lets find a cure for Hatered and wrong doings. Lets for once in this sick world try to find some medium of peace.

to mr Driven.. and all the others who hope 4 peace and love .Maybe the white world should start by telling the whole story of what really happened 2 black people..and not just a few well intentioned apologies on slavery etc... in this country in particular slavery was a race based system, whites did as they pleased ,murder rape mutilation you name it, all sanctioned by law and it wasn't only in the 1800's www.slaverybyanothername.com Douglas A.Blackmon Anchor Books...White men have taken black women at will since the 1600's up into 1900s Myself I have grown tired, after living 50 yrs, of hearing how we all should learn to live together love each other bs... when whites refuse to repay what they have stolen from black people, the bible says we should love each other but it also says when you have wronged someone you are to restore that person threefold tenfold. For all the talk that has been done on this issue interracial love sex etc.I find it quite absurd that there is not much discussion on the subject of white wealth and how it came to be....Black Labor,White Wealth Claud Anderson,Ed.D(Maryland:Duncan&Duncan)1994, perhaps that white knight that all these sisters on this blog are looking for if he had not inherited that white status ,privilege, money he would'nt look so good and conversely the brother had he been given what was rightfully his i.e payment for is labor, pain sweat and blood of 3000 yrs he would'nt be deplored by his own woman.Until there is true justice ...in the criminal justice, penal system economics political, with reparations we can throw all this love sh@#T out the window. Our young blk people dont have a clue, always talking about a color blind world and interracial love .I think we should rethink the whole idea of Black Nationalism

I think race is a beautiful thing and to intermingle them is even better. There is so much to be learned. I think the problem is too many people love living in the comfort zone. When we step out of that, we grow and begin to see a world of difference. I am Black and Native American, my mother was raised by a white woman and had a black father. She turned out to be a very educated beauty woman with dignity and gratitude. The creation of the human race shouldn't be defined by race but by who we are as individuals inside these different looking bodies. Love sees no color and it is unfortunate that some are still stuck in the 1800's. I love all nationalities and find knowledge in each. Could you imagine going to school and learning only one subject leaving all the others out. We need to intermingle to be complete and understand what being different really means. Much love to all. The world is only as great as we see it. Remember that..

Being a father of two beautiful bi-racial children, there mother and I have always taught them they were both white and black. My oldest is in High School and he hates to be called black by others, he is quick to say " I am not black, I am Caucasian/African American. Does he deny or dis like being black? of course not! He is just not ashamed of his race(s) As far as whom he dates, I tell him "date whomever makes you happy" cause God Nor Love know Race.. As far as my daughter goes she ain't leaving the house till she Fifty, LOL

E-dub......I implore you to just take a long look at some of the people that come from different regions and then think about the fact that Africa is not that far from Eurasia. I think it would be silly to assume that "so-called" race mixing is a new thing. People have had boats for quite some time now....lol. But yeah I think it is a little far fetched to look at in the context of that percentage as well. My take on it is we are really and truly all related. I have seen native people from Denmark who look very much like they could share a relative or two with people from Samoa. I have looked into the eyes of quite a few native South and east Africans and noticed that wonderful slant that is usually only attributed to those of Asian descent. And we all must admit sometimes it is difficult to tell on sight alone if someone is Native American, Mexican, Asian or a combination...(Yes, that is very much possible) As the saying goes...sometimes "the proof is in the pudding"...LOL. And at the same time....who give a ssssshhhh???....LOL. Peace and Blessings tatted2death

People who have to classify someone by race are either: a%^*oles, stupid, or lazy -- most often all three. If you look at person and go white, black, other it is nothing but a sad attempt to fit the other person in box and to dehumanize them to fit your petty prejudices. My niece is biracial and identifies herself as black for the very simple reason her white family wouldn’t have anything to do with her. That is something, I can understand she was raised by black people why wouldn’t she consider herself to be black. Oh by the way, Thank God for all the beautiful women in all their infinite variety because they are what make life worth living

Hello Everyone!!!! Will we ever get over this? I have people telling me how 'exotic' looking I am. I usually get the questions; am I Mexican,Half Black/Asian, or Half Black/Mexican? Are you serious? This is soooo rude to ask in a way if your motive is not pure, but if your motive is pure than that can be discussed as a 'teachable moment'. We are so taught by the illuminati controlling media, that White is good and everything else is bad! We ALL belong to GOD, but having a personal relationship with JESUS is a different thing. I do have to agree with that one write about Halle Berry; her mother told both of her sisters they are Black, even though they have a White Mother. You all should check out Halle Berry's other two sisters! Even Alicia Keys claims Black; even though Ms. Terry Augello-Cook paid for all of her piano lessons. Ms. Cook said she never felt thrown under the bus by Alicia and she respects her choice! Not all Biracial people come out looking like Mariah Carey, some look like Jennifer Hudson! Yes, one of my co-workers's daughters is the same shade of Jennifer Hudson and my co-worker is a dirty Blonde with Green eyes!! It goes back to the science; every White person has 30 percent Black Blood in them! So let us stop tripping!! Whether we are mixed or mixed looking, stop treating it like it is something so wonderful, special, or a privelege! It is what it is!!! Love your fellow brother and sister! GOD Bless and take care of yourselves; because you are worth it!!! WHOLE FOODS MARKET OR TRADER JOE'S!!!!!

All of these comments are so true, saw a movie recently, Called Slow Burn, got me thinking Jolene Blalock. If you get a chance check it our, this woman changes like a Camilion (the lizard)(spelling), to fit her needs. Being a rather dark person (Greek white native American mix) I have confused a few through the years. Once when I was younger a older black man stopped to ask directions, then excused himself by saying oh I thought you was a colored boy. He was looking for a black family's farm, I like I was white so how could I know where a black family lived. After giving him directions again he aplogized for thinking I was a colored boy. I laugh about incidents like this, again when I was working in Southern Cal. area, a small Mexican boy asked me something in Spainish, he mother stepped in, again another aplogy for thinking I was a Mexican. With blue eyes and very a dark complexion, and staying in the sun a whole lot, in Florida most assume that I'm Cuban. Just another thought about what is mixed or multi-race perception.. Scoff

To Jaimillera 80% of mixed race people do what you do and marry white so its seems to me that mixed race people feel more white than black; despite what they might say in public. Your sons will more likely go out and marry a white woman than a black woman, i doubt if they will ever consider going out with a black woman. The fact speak for themselves.

I have to agree with adventure88, Barack Obama and Halle Berry. Halle Berry while on Oprah confessed that although she was raised by a white mother she considers herself black. Halle Berry stated "she felt she was denying her mother (who is white) because her father (who is black) was abusive and left them. She felt she would betraying her mother. Her mother said it best, "Halle, when you look in the mirror what do you see." Halle's response is that I see a black women. Barack Obama openly talks about this fact as well in his book. I am interracial and if you saw me walking by you would never know that I was not black. I am married to a man who is russian/polish and our older son is very fair and the younger son is 2 shades lighter than myself. Would you consider me telling my older son who is fair with nappy hair and black features that he is white?! It's unrealistic. Statistics do show that at least 95% of children who are interracial do rarely consider themselves white. Meanwhile, I can tell someone in conversation that I am mixed black and white. I think the real issue for some mixed children who look black but do not want to consider themselves black is because you want to play both sides of the field becaus you think you can white America will accept them. Halle Berry said it best at the end of the day a White American will always see a black person as being balck; it doesn't even matter if you have white skin with black features. If you are mixed black and white in my opinion you are black. White can be mixed with many different races however, you can always tell that they are mixed. Some may agree with me, some may want to crucify me.

Hello!!!! Black people did not come up with the idea of the one drop rule in America the white slave owners did they also used to call black people animals and that we were 3/4th of a human so this is why Halle and Barak are called black and they are black.

Truth is that I'm black first. It is how I identify myself although I have a good dose of Native American and a little white. I embrace those parts of my heritage. However, the sad truth is that the ones who have power in this country have put everyone in these racial categories originally to keep themselves pure. I'm not making this up. Look at some of the things the colonials and founding fathers said about maintaining "racial purity" in America. That being said, I wish we were more like Latin America and the Islands when it comes to racial stuff. They atill have a preference for lighter skin, European features etc, but they are far less hung up on race than the USA.

Here it is in black and white ! We are called mixed when we do something good and black when we do something not so good. A mixed race person is just that a mixed race person its a crime when when we deny our mixed, people of all single looking races will ask us our mix with provocation from us ! and then make a statement that u do not look mixed. So go figure, many times to prevent a stupid comeback from the person who asked , we just say we are not mixed. To be very honest here those of us who had a very recent set of grandparents or a parents of different races really do not identify with anyone single race, some may not like that statement but those who are know its true and in many=most cases we were raised by both races and cultures and not just one. People need to stop this that all of us mixed kids were only raised by 1 race or culture false media hype. 90% of us was raised by both parents and both sides of the family most of us are military kids anyway. Believe me its much different when your actual parents are of different races than some great, great grandparent rumored back in the 1800's

Well, I guess some americans identify their race/heritage by a number of things including upbringing, community, grandparents etc. Some may only identify with exactly what race both parents are. If your mother is black and your father is white, it makes you bi-racial but in America the elite/political caucasians came up with the "wonderful plan" (being sarcastic) to group anything that wasn't what THEY percieved to be "pure white" into a black or other category. It's sad but true. Halle identifies with being a black woman but truthe is, she is black and white. Same with Barack or Sidney Poitier's daughter, Lisa Bonet. I don't know what can a white person tell a multiracial or ethnic racial person about how they percieve themselves.

im biracial myself...ive always thought it should be the person in the relationship itself to label their relationship. why label it anyways? and the way i see it is, both obama and halle self identify as biracial blacks..i do the same myself... meaning we interchange between saying we are black and biracial. none of us are self haters because none of us deny our white moms. self identity means you are identifying with who you feel you can relate to, and racially we relate to our black side due to racism. even though all 3 of us have similar personalities. in my opinion, i feel if i was with a black guy im dating within my race...but if im dating a white guy i feel like im dating out of my race. mostly because if i was with a white guy, id get stares and rude remarks. remember, most mixed people are treated like black people, until the person finds out they are mixed.

Oh the great debate...It's the one thing I hate answering. Cause to be honest I am a blend of all my ethnicities. In the States I'm black, in Puerto Rico I'm Puerto Rican, even when I'm on the reservation I'm Native American...Sadly my Irish side is only recognized by family. The US has been the only place where I've lived where you get the constant questionin fof what are you. I'm an American...not an African-American, Native American, Latin American. An American that bleed and sweated for this country while serving in the military. So if you want to identify me then I'm all or nothing or simply an American. God help my son who's part Sicilian and looks white. When he has to face this situation.

This race issue is huge and we all should go on Oprah and discuss it. I am African- American, Irish, Sioux Indian, etc. The list goes on, sometimes I get confused myself. My neice is all the things I'm mixed with plus her father is Polish, Italian, Mexican, Spanish etc. It's too much, but I am not overwhelmed by her race, but by her beauty and my culturally diverse family. When I pull a wet brush through my hair in the morning I wonder what part of me makes it strait and silkly, then turn into a million little sprials. What part of my race prefers white men? Instead of trying to figure out what race people are that are already here, let's just try to get along with them. I think lol is funny, but makes a good point.

Why does the United States American person make such a big deal about race? It goes on and on, in every venue, this talk about race and racial pride and racial competency and racial this and that. What does it matter? Does a person's race define them? Apparently there are many who think it does. Isn't that rather pitiful and sophomoric?

Some people feel as though being black or white is simply a frame of mind. Sociologist protest race as being a social construction intended to separate and classify. America and early Americans classified black as having 1 drop of black blood. Ya grandparents black? mom or dad white? your black! Simple as that! I find it is hilarious though that we have a black man in office and suddenly he becomes mulatto, half and half, he is mixed, he is this, he is that. He is human just like you and I! He doesn't have wings nor the ability to read minds. Geees! wake up people there are more important things in this world besides skin color. Don't get me wrong I am a sister by far and I love the skin I am in beyond compare but are you serious? Genocide along with apartheid are still alive and well in Africa, Latin America is still dependent upon the U.S. There are still prisoners in Guantanamo and I have a tummy ache just to name a few things that are more important than America's dichotomy!

The first time I saw Barack Obama (on Oprah), I immediately thought of him as Mulato, the same thing with Halle Barry. In Latin America being a Mulato is a definition of being mixed with white and black (there are many more definitions, javao, morena etc.) and many of them are proud to be one. In this country anybody that has a darker color than white is called Black. This is because during the slavery the only color full accepted was white, anything else was tainted and rejected. For many black woman having a mixed child meant rape, so that is why this was not something to brag about. When I first arrived in this country I did not understand why everyone was called black, now I do and respect it. I voted for Obama not because he was black, mulato or mixed but because he is an honest, smart and good man and chose a very smart and good woman. I do think that all parents count, white, black or mixed and I am glad America is acknowledging this. My son is mixed but his skin color is white and while people have different definitions for him (which I don't mind) I am glad we live now in a world accepting us all. More than color what counts in life is being raised in a nice, disciplined and loving environment. Should Barak deny his devoted white mother, or Tiger woods his Asian mother? Should Halle deny her white parentage, all for the sake of "well, in the U.S. if you're not white, you're black"? Face it--most of our ideas about race don't stand up to logic. You can say "well that's just the way it is" but then it never changes. STRONG INDIVIDUALS stand up to the bullsh*t and move the human race forward. Thank God Barak didn't sit around saying, I'm black and I can only reach out to blacks and everyone knows a black man can never be president.

I personally think it is beautiful when a people of a different race can come together and love each other. I dont see race, i see a human being. i was raise in a culture that did not truely expose me to racism. I got a dose of it when I moved to the South. Yet i feel the same way. Not everyone is racist/ignorant. I deal with individuals and respect everyones opinions.

At the end, all that counts is if you have accepted Christ as your Savior. We are all Gods loving creation, so instead of looking at pigmentation and judging each other seek God.

TO REALY SEE HISTORY YOU MUST FIRST AQUIANT YOUR SELF WITH THE MATH. ADAM WAS SYMBOLICALLY THE "O" or the egg, androgyny. He had a Female in him. He was further synonymous to the ark of Noah,Sacred. From Sacred you get the races. The ark in this case being the carrier of all seeds, like Abraham. So in an abstract metaphysical way, again, there is no color. Who turned the heat to 58 degrees, by the way! OUT

What color was Adam??? Race, color, nationality its all relevant to a particular set of circumstances, time and space. If the rainbow did not have the many hues it would not be a rainbow. Defining things or people by different characteristics is natural as well as necessary for in the difference you find the likeness. So, its paradoxical in that oneness must divide and multiply itself to eventually be understood as oneness. The human being is no different. As much as i love my color (and i am darker than most) i am happy and satisfied everyone does'nt look, like me. Ah, the beauty of variety which creates a beauty of choice... If we are gonna read history lets read all of it. Some may say "its all good" and, then, others may say" it ain't all so good". Either way, its history...

TIME AND SPACE IF WE COULD TURN THE CLOCK BACK TO THE MOORISH INVASION OF ITALY OR PORTUGAL, WE WOULD SEE THE MOORES INTER MIXING WITH THE GREEKS AND ITALIANS. IN MODERN TIMES THESE PEOPLE ARE CALLED SICILIANS; NOT MULATOES. AGAIN IN ENGLAND IF YOU HAVE THE NAME MOORE OR KIM, THESE ARE DERIVATIVES OF BLACK. THE INDIANS OF INDIA INITIALY WERE BLACK. WE DON'T CALL THEM MULATO. IN FACT THE BRIISH SOILDIERS WERE PAID TO CREAT "MIXED" BABIES TO FORM A BUREAUCRATIC CLASS. THINK ABOUT THIS. WACH YOUR TV. WHAT IS SOCIAL ENGINEERING? IF YOU HAPPEN TO VISIT THE KING TUT EXHIBIT, GUESS WHAT? HE LOOKS LIKE THE ORIGINAL AFRICAN. NOT LIKE THE "MORDERN EGYPTIANS. THIS MIXED RACE AS IDENTIFICATION IS A BY-PRODUCT OF RACISM. AS WE PROCEED INTO THE FUTURE WE WILL DEVELOPE NEW WAYS OF EXPRESSING OUR SELVES. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT'S VERY HARD TO DETERMINE WHO'S WHAT. DID YOU KNOW THAT BLACKS HAVE PARTICULAR ALIMENT CALLED SICKLE CELL ANIMIA. WHO ELSE HAS THIS? PEOPLE ON THE MEDITERRANEAN. WHY? BECAUSE OF MELONIN. NOW, WE HAVE THE PEOPLE OF NORTHEN AFRICA, INDIAN, EGYPT ETC.ETC. AND NONE OF THEM CLAIM TO BE MIXED OR MULATO OR ANY OF THESE OTHER CRAZY THINGS.THE AMERICAN GI'S CALL THEM SAND N..GG.... IT'S ONLY IN AMERICA FOR THE MOST PART THAT PEOPLE HAVE COME TO DIFIND THEM SELVES BY RACE AND COLOR. AND I SEE IT'S SPREADING ALL OVER THE WORLD. YOU MUST READ GERALD MASSEY OR HELEN BLAVASKY, AND MAYBE CHURCHWORTH. WHAT IS ARNOLD SCHWARTSNIGGER? IS HE MULATO? OH YES, THE WORLD IS CHANGING FOR THE BEST. BUT PLEASE, READ YOUR HISTORY. NO ONE CAN BE YOU, BUT YOU. SO, BE YOUR SELF. OH YES, PLEASE DO YOU!!!

Great article and good topic for conversation. As an African American/Black/Colored/Negro, its amazing to me to me to how many of us wont accept the the other ethnic side of mixed race human beings. How can you in good consciousness dismiss the other side of the equation, how? To do so is utter disrespect. Barack's mother was Irish so that makes him as much Irish American as it does African American. So we have a African/Irish American Pres...

So far (being in the mid sixties), I have felt comfortable among any kind of people world wide and I felt accepted and even loved, because I felt no prejudice toward anyone who may have looked differently, or having other customs, behavior or religion. I had, however, not been a threat to these people, because I was not a burden or did not jeopardize their existence. I pretty much stayed within the broad middle class of those countries and perhaps with a positive attitude, my wonderful experiences are not a miracle, they had to happen under these good circumstances. Many people experience the opposite for many reasons. They may have been raised with prejudices, they may have had negative experiences themselves in the past. They are simply not able to look at others without bad expectations. I do not blame these people, as they did not have the same background as for instance I. My family has always looked for interesting partners, subsequently I have seven different European nationalities in me. It was only natural for me to have healthy, intelligent and beautiful children with a dark skinned American. I know in the U.S., generally one drop of dark blood is considered being black. My children do not identify themselves as being black, though, and they live in an international, educated society in the U.S. (including many dark skinned Americans). Our family believes, behavior has extremely much to do with being accepted by others. Being educated and well mannered opens up lots of doors anywhere. Topped by good looks and a positive personality will get anyone ahead. This is the reason why wonderful Barack Obama (despite his name) is admired world wide. He can relate to people anywhere on earth and is a true world citizen. He had to work very hard - also on himself, to get there. I would like to express my sorrow for all people on earth, who do not have a true chance to get out of the bad situation they were born into or brought into by others who are greedy, ill minded and egotistic. We do not all have the same chance. There is no justice. Many people are severely handicapped from the moment they are conceived by mothers who are drug addicts or have aids. Does it really help to pray? But a fact is, that our greatest celebrities throughout history come from the so called lower class in society. They were given a chance for education. Thereby they discovered a great talent, which, with much ambition, made them world famous. They did not get there by feeling sorry for themselves, blaming others, being loud and aggressive, lazy and without perspectives. Perhaps one should look at oneself if there is also prejudice toward others - are black Americans without any? Once they moved into a nice middle class neighborhood, do they welcome a trashy family next door, regardless of color? It took a long time for someone like Barack Obama to become president anywhere on earth! Time has come to look at true values!

There is no such thing as different races, theirs only one race and that's the human race, all of these people or human beings, but have more than one cultural background and or ethnicity involved in their lives. If all humans being would treat each other as humans their would be no problems. Men are Men and Women are Women whether they be black, white, red or green. A dog is an animal whether it be a German Shepard or pitt bull its still a dog. Get over it people and call humans what they are and stop trying to make them something different.

I REMEMBER PUSKIN OF RUSSIAN, AND BEETHOVEN OF ENGLAND. BEETHOVENVEN WAS CALLED SCHWARTS BECAUSE HE WAS OF MIXED LINAGE. WHAT IS AN ARNOLD SCHWARENEGGER. REMEMBER,SCHWARTS; MEANS BLACK OR DARK. MY POINT IS SIMPLY THIS WE MUST SEEK THAT WHICH WILL BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS AND THE SPIRITUAL, AND MAKE THE RACE OF MAN EVENTUALLY AS INTUITIONAL AS AS IT IS TODAY, INTELLECTUAL.

This is a great article and how awesome that we can talk about stuff like this! I think that Obama is not black or white but BOTH. If his wife was black or white, both relationships would be considered interracial. Did we forget that our Hispanic neighbors are only a mixture of native Americans, white conquistadors and black slaves?? We could just call them mixed then. I don't think you loose a culture when your father is one ethnicity and your mother is another, you gain, and you are fully both things if you embrace them.
