WATCH: Australian Model with Down Syndrome Debuts Fashion Line at New York Fashion Week
Model Madeline Stuart, 21, debuted her own fashion line on Sunday at the New York Fashion Week. Her fashion label which featured casual comfy looks included crop tops, skirts and sporty leggings. The model who has Down Syndrome broke the fashion industry norms when she made her first runway appearance in 2015. She is an inspiration to people with Down Syndrome.
Her label dubbed '21 Reasons Why By Madeline Stuart' is also changing perceptions about the abilities and capabilities of people with Down Syndrome. She named it that because the 21 represents the extra copy of chromosome 21 and also the fact that she turned 21 this year.
Madeline kicked off her show by wearing blue patterned leggings.

Her mother who is also her manager and design collaborator said the collection "really does represent who she is" and will be sold exclusively online.
Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects development. Each year, in the U.S. alone, 6000 babies are born with it.
Stuart's creativity and passion for fashion debunks stereotypes surrounding people with the disorder. Ever since she began her fashion career less than 2 years ago, she has appeared in various fashion shows around the world. And the model is not looking back. She has shows lined up in Paris, Los Angeles and other U.S. cities before late April.
Much as her speech is limited, she has her eye on the price. In an interview her mother said: "Madeline has never had the concept that she can't achieve anything."
Sara Hart Weir, president of the National Down Syndrome Society said:
"By debuting her own fashion line and becoming a businesswoman, she is showing other individuals with Down syndrome that is it OK to have your own hopes and aspirations. The expectations for children with Down syndrome are higher than ever."
