MediaTakeOut.com claims having got hold of an article in one of the UK newspapers suggesting that Black folk (Caribbean Black folk in particular) are in danger of disappearing because of the rise in interracial relationships in the UK.
Apparently, 1 in 10 children in the UK come from mixed-race families. Going by the study’s prediction, if current trends (interracial relationships and marriages) continue, some ethnic minorities may cease to exist as mixed-race individuals become more common.
The study also shows that some ethnic groups are more likely to be in interracial relationships. Going by the figures provided by the study, 48% of Black Caribbean men and 34 per cent of Black Caribbean women are in interracial relationships in contrast to those of Pakistani backgrounds (8% men and 6% women).
Do you think we should worry ourselves over some ethnic groups disappearing due to interracial relationships or should we instead look at it from a different perspective – that racism in the UK is disappearing?
I don’t understand how the Black Race is dying out when two mixed adults marry they produce children who are light brown, brown, and dark brown? You will see similar shades throughout the continent of Africa!!! They are still Black Africans. Africans are very diverse and comes in many different shades. Just because people are labeled mixed-race for census purposes, doesn’t mean Black people no longer exist. The DNA is still there.
Then, when you really think about it…who cares. When you die, you can’t take your race with you.

when i raised these points or concerns that i have i didnt rasise them on studies or a scientific basis i dont need to – i have grwn up in a muliti-cultural society and have mixed freinds who have shared their experiences, in england they have done studies and documentaries that show children of mixed ethnicity often have a struggle with belonging.
we all know that black peolple come in differnt shades and skin tones but when you consider countries such as africa as large as it is where famine, poverty and the aids rate is very high in this case their life period is very limited- when you look at other countries such as britain and america where interratiol relationships is one the fastest growing trends resulting in mixed children this generation of blacks make up a great amount of the population but it deffinately wont always be like that

Firstly I have to agree that this article is stupid not only because its highly negative but because it defines ‘mixed race’people as mixed black and white only.My mother is middle eastern and my father white so I regard myself as mixed race,as can most of us Londoners,so are we wrong? As someone pointed out if black people will disappear because they produce mixed race children with white people then arent the white people going to disappear also? and if that were to happen (though I think it impossible)it would be a natural progression that would eliminate rascism (between black and white) in the UK.Anyone who is fearful of this needs to have a talk with themself as I would guess they have very bigotted ideals.

One way to end racism in America is to remove all racial labels from applications, forms, demographics, media, etc. The suspect was light complexion with blond hair, or medium dark complexion with woolly hair. A white man travels all the way to Africa to find a wife because they are considered exotic, they can cook, clean, Iron, make a home they are creative, have great ideas to share and have more love for the husband. An african woman do not know what is the meaning of cheating with their husbands or having kids with the next door neighbour when she is married(she is always a one man woman). I think the black caribbeans won’t exist any more in england(for the exception of the black caribbeans immigrating there) but not the black africans, they don’t cross the line like other blacks because of culture. So I think it’s a good thing, so there won’t be discrimination and all; but like they say what happens in vegas stays in vegas. England is the only country in the world in this trend. It will take million years before countries in asia and africa follow that trend.

Your concept of interracial dating and/or courtship is pretty clear, ..I get that. But help me understand “WHO” it is exactly that you are trying to convince that the Black Race is vanishing or inferior?
You appear to have some well-put-together “assumptions”, so I guess what I’m saying is, it would be pointless to post these messages on (of all things) an Interracial Dating Website specifically designed for individuals that are seeking relationships “outside” of their specific race.

I’m definitely from a different planet than everybody else! I’m under the assumption that racial mixing and interracial relationships are inevitable, so I guess everyone’s race is subject to extinction at some point.
I don’t know why this is, but when checking the blog pages, I’m starting to question why we have so many “objectors” of interracial unions that continue to leave remarks on these boards. ……Not sure why anyone would create a profile here, just to reply with racist views. Maybe the site administrators should start monitoring these boards more often.

I think the UK just looks at race differently than the US. How many Black Americans in the US have bi- or multiracial heritage? To be African American essentially means to be a mix….as we have parents and grandparents with Native, white and Hispanic heritage….be we are still considered to be black in America.

Caribbean people we don’t care so much about race.We have been mixing with others since living in the Caribbean.If you go to Jamaica you will find Asian men with Black women.You go to Trinidad you will find Black and Indians mixing.In the U.S. most Black women marrying White and non-Black men are mostly Caribbean Black women. It’s not being suggested that mixing races will eliminate racism … more that the mixing of races is an indication that racism IS being eliminated due to other factors. Ok, maybe it will never quite disappear (as evinced by some of the grotesque nonsense spouted by contributors of all hues on this thread), but it’s an encouraging trend. I think it’s just a sign that people in the UK feel they have a choice which isn’t solely delimited by race or cultural background, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
This thread is so depressing, but not particularly because of the views expressed. If they were carefully researched and were the honest conclusion of some logical train of thought, then I might at least respect them, even if I didn’t agree with them. However, when they are the result of tossing a salad of fiction in a dressing of pseudo-science, I fear for the future if it falls into the hands of such crashingly ignorant types. For example:

Why is this so hard for people to understand. When animals are bred and crossed in similar species the by-product is a weaker animal having generally more complications in surviving (Physical,health and mental) . This is due to the fact that when a species evolves it takes mother nature thousands of generations to mold it into a perfect design. when two similar species are cross bred, the result is a fair mixing of the two. This result is a conflicted and weaker version of the originals, because each was a perfect design to begin with. There is no room for improvement and if there was it would be done selectively through evolution. I feel that when we see these results in animals we except them as science and fact, but as soon as we involve ourselves we get spiritual, religious and let our emotions and hormones control our thought process. We make ourselves believe these scientific laws do not apply to us, but if we share 98 chromosomes with a chimpanzee than we are just animals too and must take a careful look at what we do to ourselves. Ultimately if we create a singular species (no races) we will not only have undone all the work of nature, we will also have created one very flawed design that will only take one virus, one climactic change, one problem to make us extinct. It is our differences that make each race it’s own perfection.
Simply following nature’s way can lead us by example.
Examples when a horse and a donkey are bred a mule is produced, all mules are sterile nature kind of dead ends the two species to prevent further breeding.
Lions and tigers are sometimes crossed causing an immediate conflict tigers are solitary animals, while lions are social the mental complications this causes in there crossing has major drawbacks as some are social some are solitary.
Hybrid animals are always Known to be temperamental and very prone to disease.
When we talk about ourselves we must keep our minds open to science and nature and respect it’s boundaries.
We must also begin to research openly about ourselves and accept what we find making it public knowledge as fact and not simply racial stereotypes as belief.

Simple Truth
I can’t believe you hold those views this day and age. First of all, we are all part of the same race. Donkey and Horse are not. We all evolved at the same time, but in different geographical areas, which some scientist contributes to unique characteristics or diversity of our gene pool. Now, some genes are superior in under certain conditions, in very hot areas pigmented skin is beneficial. However, in cold areas, less pigment is beneficial. If two people of two different skin types were to mate, their off springs would NOT be sterile. This means, nature is giving them a thumbs up to reproduce. Now, mate one of those people with a chimp with their 98 similar Chromosomes. If a off spring is produced, it would be sterile. Just like your Donkey/Horse example.
There is no such thing as superior or inferior human species. We are all the same. Or, can rid your waste like a plant, and make your own food through photosynthesis? I don’t think so. Geneticists say (hapmp.org) that all human beings are 99.9% the same-with the exception of a small percent for skin color.

Nature want us to mix. It is very important if Humans want to continue to exist. Humans with larger gene pools are more likely to survive if there is ever catastrophic events. For example, let say, just for the sake of argument, Blue-eyed people have better night vision (they can spot food and enemies better at night than brown-eyed individuals). If the sun is blocked by natural or man-made event, then people with light blue-eyes would be better fit to survive, right. But, what if a brown-eyed individual have a gene for blue-eyes. Under extreme condition (for survival) these genes would express themselves when two brown-eyed individual produce a child.
However, If the Brown-eyed individual ancestors adopted your views about intermixing, that gene may not have been present in the Brown-eyed person’s gene pool. Therefore, his or her offspring would not have a good chance for survival. This is how nature works. When nature stop allowing us to share the diversity of our genes, then we will have a problem. Not the other way around. We don’t know if our conditions or atmosphere will change 1000 years from now. But, the more diverse our genes are (inter-mixing) the better chance we have for survival as a species.
