Jrue Holiday Leaves NBA to Care for Sick Wife
The devastating news of his wife's brain tumor hit Jrue Holiday, New Orleans Pelicans point guard hard. Retired soccer star, Lauren Holiday was 6 months pregnant at the time of the diagnosis, when doctors discovered a benign tumor on the right side of her brain.
Being the loving and devoted husband he is, Jrue will not be playing for the New Orleans Pelicans this coming season. He is taking time off to take care of his ailing wife saying:
"My family comes before basketball. I’m obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else"

The doctors have decided to induce labor early even though the baby isn't due for another few weeks, so that they can carry out a surgery on her brain without affecting the baby. Much as the couple is excited about the birth of their first child (a daughter), their priority right now is to manage Lauren's surgery. The surgery is scheduled six weeks after the birth of their daughter.
According to Jrue, the Pelicans organization have really supported him and his family during this trying time. In an interview, this is what he had to say about his wife: "She’s obviously a fighter, the toughest woman I know. That’s the reason why I married her."
Wishing them all the best and pray for her healing.
