Apparently the mixed race golfer’s preference for white women has ignited discussions within the black community in the US. It has been alleged that his latest sex scandal has sparked off debate among Black Americans on interracial dating. Much as this has been ignored in the media coverage of his infidelities, his marriage to a white model and the fact that the other three… four… six women (the number keeps growing 
) he is allegedly having affairs with are also white, hasn’t escaped African Americans.
In this age and era, when you see such headlines about criticism against interracial dating, it’s a bit unimaginable. Sometimes I even wonder where people get these stories because the people I bump into don’t care who one dates.
Anywho, on the Tom Joyner radio show for instance, a satirical song was played saying: “The question everyone in America wants to ask you is, how many white women does one brother want?”
Much as Woods once described himself as “Cablinasian” (Caucasian, black, Indian and Asian) – in a bid to show his blend of ethnicities – most Americans hail him as the black sports star. The issue isn’t even about his infidelities; but that in addition to his blonde Swedish wife, his mistresses are white. All this is a reflection of black’s resistance to interracial relationships.
But is this representative of the sum total of Black American? REALLY?

I do agree wholeheartedly that there are some of the back community who do not have the confidence and contrary to my verbiage in my original prose, I was NOT raised by confident parent(s), nor was I surrounded by what I have learned later in life (belief in, and value of me and respect for others). Everything in this life is learned, so I volunteer my time and mentor pre-teens in this area — some accept it and others reject. Learning to love ourselves is our responsibility and we attract and accept those attributes that we project.
The debate that Tiger Woods and his lack of regard for his family, has sparked is just wasted effort, in my view. No matter what each of us has internal confidences that reflect externally. We have choices — develop what we have, build our confidence level and rise above stereotyping!

I’m confused. If Tiger Woods identifies himself as the sum of his parts i.e. mixed race, why does anyone feel the need to say differently? If he was half black and half something else, then I could maybe see the logic in referring to him as black. However, black is a 4th, one quarter of his genetic make up.
I watched the Oprah back in the day when he told the world what he was (racially speaking) and I feel like that should be it.

Man you can’t even have a grip on reality if you don’t have an understanding of past history.
What does this has to do with love and IR relationships? Everything! We can’t make it on romantic love and physical attraction alone, you have to relate to a person whose views, beliefs and attitudes are shaped by a past and a history and you have to accept and respect the the total sum of that person and not just the parts the make you feel comfortable.
You don’t pick off the parts of them that you don’t like, don’t understand or agree with. You have to accept the “TOTAL PERSON”.
I see and I know that too many people in IR relationships that compromise parts of themselves and play this game of going alone to get along and
that’s not true love that’s being phoney and living in a fantasy.

The truth about the matter is in my community, no one thinks about Tiger Woods or anyone else that’s in the limelight, to tell the truth, until they make the news. There may be a brief ‘barber shop’ or ‘beauty shop’ or even while doing yard work, discussion for a minute or two, then it’s over.

I am so tired of everyone’s preoccupation with which “race” I (we) date. When they find out I have a preference for black men, they always ask “why” and try to say a bunch of negative things. They also make stereotypical jokes. (This is mostly from “white” people. Women who are too afraid to do soemthing different and men who are intimidated by the potential threat/competition.)
Nobody ever says to a man, “Why do you like big boobs”? (or) “Why do you like long legs”? (or blonds etc.) So why does everyone think it’s okay to ask why regarding a preference for anything else?
We all have our own tastes. In addition to liking my “chocolate”…LOL…I also love Thai food and the color red…nobody ever questions why I love Thai food or the color red!
I have mixed emotions on the whole Tiger situation. None of them have to do with race. From an entertainment stand point, judge not. Most people do not have the temptation and opportunity that he has had in his face. Thus they can not say what they would have done in the same situation.
From a personal stand point, there are so many women that are into what he’s into. He should have been honest with his wife and kept it movin’ if he needed something different. So, to me, it’s all about honesty.
It use to make me happy to see a successful man with a happy family in the public eye. Now, I feel a sense of disappointment when I see Tiger. He was a symbol that you can have it all. Now he’s a symbol that it can all fall. I believe this is why we all feel let down. We wanted to be part of the dream. In a world full of negativity, we have all been pulled into his nightmare.

I dont find it shocking that Tiger seems to prefer white women. In the pro-sports life, women and groupies are always present. Wherever one goes they are everpresent. From that group, white women comprise the majority of them and he no doubt chose from that population.
The Williams sisters, especially Venus seems to prefer white men. I’ve read nothing of this anywhere. Maybe its the Tennis and pro crowd she is around. It means nothing to me, wish I was one of her entourage.
White women I know resent me because of my preference for exotic types in women. I am not closed to white women, and would love to find any woman who completes me and vice versa. In interracial relationships there is a lot of cultural differences and new areas to explore together in getting to know each other.
Getting back to Tiger, he seems no different than Jim Brown, Charles Barkeley and many other Black pro athletes. In fact Jimmy is probably one of the most hated athletes because of his preference for white women.

While I was in South India, an Indian male once asserted to me “Black men don’t marry black women.” I was surprised because he didn’t ask – he sounded certain.
I don’t and never have believed that any black man owes it to me (nor the black diaspora) to date black women. I’m compelled to respect that right, since when it’s my turn – I’m demanding the same.

One of the first things that I notice when I got married was that most men are serial “cheaters” amd that I was not. Tiger is in the midst of a profession where almost 100% of is peers are not fidelitous in their relationships. They have women following and stalking them everywhere they go. They dont know these guys just their images and they are willing to drop their draws for a chance at some of that money, some of that notoriety. Men do react to that and it isnt love…its biological and not immoral. Furthermore, at that level race is not necessarily a criterion. Tiger doesnt consider himself a black man but rather as a man,

While I admired Tiger Woods accomplishment on the golf course no matter what he calls himself ethnically. I am disgusted by his behavior off the course. For me, I’m glad he didn’t marry an AA woman or cheat with any. The former would have perpetuated stereotypes. I’d rather see a white women disgraced and humiliated by her famous athelete husband than a
AA one. We have been on the receiving end of that betrayal too often. Just goes to show that some men can’t keep it in their pants no matter what they have at home.

Basically anything negative is big news for anyone in the lime light, it sells and takes people away from their own problems for a min and they have someone to talk about and bash lol
Tiger like many have stated just got caught, again like so many celebs do be cause they are constantly being monitored by the public eg the press.
He dosen’t say he’s black possibly because there is raceism among blacks just as much as any other race.
To the young lady that said she wasn’t liked be cause she was mixed my ex grew up in Mobile Al and was 1/4 Cherokee/spanish/black/creole and was almost 5 yours older than me and was called the n word by whites and yellow by blacks so not excepted by either group-maybe Tiger had some of the same experiances who knows, all I know is I learned alot from her about raceism in general I was married to her for 13 years and none of our problems were race related.
With her experience with prejudice from both races including working at one of Jesse Jackson’s foundations in Chicago and meeting him in person whom she quit after meeting him(said he was a pompous egotistical self centered jerk)lol
And the fact that she grew up in segregation in the south you woulld have thought that she would have nothing to do with a white man lol but in her own words she is mixed and proud of her Native American heritage considering that the Native Americans endured more hatred then any race in this country yet excepted anyother race to mix with them and helped many blacks to excape slavery and took them into the tribe as one of their own.
Maybe I got A little off thrack of the discussion topic here but the point is we are attracted to whoever, we all have our preferences, so his liking of blond white is just that –His preference just as mine is to darker eyes dark hair and a darker complexion.
He is just a man who got caught up with the fame the money and the groupies that ALL rich and famous men and women deal with–When your rich and famous you are constantly bombarded by temptation, you pretty much have the choice of anyone and anything you want just waiting to be with you, None of it has to do with race but their own personnel atractions– opposites atract.
So cut him some slack he didn’t do anything many men and women haven’t done.

I’ve heard that interracial black/white relationships are hypnotic and that may very well be the case for many. My grandmother was very very fair;in fact one could tell she was very much mixed and she LOVED very dark men. She used to say.. “the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice.”
However, for me, the allure for interracial dating is simple. I love the way that I’m treated. Perhaps it’s cultural… white men as a whole seem to be taught to treat their women and families with much respect, love, and attention weithout seemingly worrying about being macho or hard. Those that are truly attracted to Black women are very very kind and attentive. It’s like having gone to heaven. You just can’t believe that you’re being treated so well. Once I experienced a whiff of the aroma of wonderful treatment, I was hooked.

I never liked Tiger. I was through with him when he denied he was Black. “one drop rule”
I have to give it to him he sure can golf. However,
I do not understand this question. Why would the Black community feel anything because Tiger is screwing around on his wife with women(any race of women) who look and are trashy. He was picking up “anything” aged 47 to 22. (those are the ones that spoke up how many more were there) And really who cares? He has a character flaw: Cheating.
