Apparently the mixed race golfer’s preference for white women has ignited discussions within the black community in the US. It has been alleged that his latest sex scandal has sparked off debate among Black Americans on interracial dating. Much as this has been ignored in the media coverage of his infidelities, his marriage to a white model and the fact that the other three… four… six women (the number keeps growing 
) he is allegedly having affairs with are also white, hasn’t escaped African Americans.
In this age and era, when you see such headlines about criticism against interracial dating, it’s a bit unimaginable. Sometimes I even wonder where people get these stories because the people I bump into don’t care who one dates.
Anywho, on the Tom Joyner radio show for instance, a satirical song was played saying: “The question everyone in America wants to ask you is, how many white women does one brother want?”
Much as Woods once described himself as “Cablinasian” (Caucasian, black, Indian and Asian) – in a bid to show his blend of ethnicities – most Americans hail him as the black sports star. The issue isn’t even about his infidelities; but that in addition to his blonde Swedish wife, his mistresses are white. All this is a reflection of black’s resistance to interracial relationships.
But is this representative of the sum total of Black American? REALLY?

To Everyone:
There are so many people to choose from in this world, and especially now with the Internet, unlimited cell plans, video conferencing and rapid travel, we can each access so many people in our business and personal lives. (It actually may become a problem that people have TOO many choices.)
And Tiger’s mixed heritage doesn’t matter because everybody is mixed on some level. Our skin color and national/racial/cultural heritage have nothing to do with WHO we REALLY are. Just with who society tells us we should think we are.
If everyone’s sight was removed, we would only know people by their content.
Race is purely visual. And in Tiger’s case, if all these women are indeed his “lovers,” I doubt it was about skin color or them thinking he had a preference for blonds; but rather he is a wealthy, successful, young man. They just want access to the fame and money. Jilted women don’t come forward to trot their relationship in front of the world unless they are after something. Sad thing they’re forgetting is the Internet and media live forever. Years from now, people will still be able to access their video interviews, and if they’re searching for a job, and their new employer has issues with adultery, well we know the drill.
It’s all just sad how some men and women can’t just seek honest, healthy relationships and be happy when they get one.

For many black women, being on this site has less to do with not wanting black men and more to do with preferring white men (or other races of men). It’s a preference probably based on experience and a desire for something opposite in visual appearance, same in needs, values and lifestyle.

Thanks for the comments folks. I do have to adress one more thing about “Tiger being this all around great guy”. Check out U-tube and look at a Payton Manning video interview on a local Indianapolis radio station. (yes the Payton Manning, quarterback of the Indinapolis Colts). He talks about how he “ran into Tiger” on a few golf courses. The only remaark he made was to the effect that he is distant and not friendly at all. Even after introducing himself on more than one occasion.
The second point is to all of those golf fans. Phil Michaelson and his caddy team has had several run-ins with Tiger on the course. The “squabbles” got so bad that at the Masters Tournament a year or so ago that the commitee fined Woods and his caddy for verbal harassment during play. To the tune of over $100 grand. It seems as if Woods instructs his caddies to try to disrupt Michaelson during play by verbal abuse according to the comittee after an investigation.
Also anyone who follows golf knows Woods is a great player. But I have never heard ANYONE talk about his “warm and inviting personality”.

First, of all black radio personnel do not represent the entire black community. Why should anyone on a IR dating site care. That is kind of contradictory. Tiger, has never associated with the black community. Which does not bother me because I don’t know him. So why are we wasting precious energy on this debate. WHY IS THERE NO MENTION OF TIGER’S PARENTS’ RESPONSIBILITY IN ALL THIS?
I’ve watched a biographical film about his childhood, and what I saw was that his parents taught him to be “colour blind.” When you teach that to a child, you are basically asking them to deny their racial and cultural heritage. His parents didn’t raise him with a strong racial identity. No wonder he’s so confused.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PREFERRING TO DATE OUTSIDE YOUR RACE, AND COMPLETELY ALIENATING YOUR OWN RACE TOTALLY.
Whilst I’m not AA myself, I do understand why they would feel alienated by Tiger’s choices. When a group of people has been and still is – oppressed, marginalised, discriminated against, it is a very human and natural response to feel rejected when one of your very few successful and famous members, chooses not to associate with you.
If you had a childhood friend who due to one parent being of a different race, or after they have made it financially in life chose not to hang out with you any longer, would you not feel rejected?

Many Whites DO object to Robert DeNiro’s preferrence for black women. They just don’t have the guts to say it our loud.
King Solomon’s aids and subjects DID object to him coverting with Queen Makeba of Sheeba for not being Jewish. They heavily criticized her “Pagan” practices which subsequently led to her demise from the Kingdom. Fast forward 2009, to marry a Jewish man, you have to convert to Judaism.
As for HAIR COLOUR, brunettes and red heads DO feel alienated by the glorification and adulation for blonds. Complexes galore! Hence the fake blonds all over the place.
Full figured women DO feel very alienated for men’s preference skinny women. Hence the prevalence of “ANOREXIA” and “BULIMIA”.
I constantly hear poor men COMPLAINING about women’s preference for wealthier men. So obviously they feel alienated too.

OFTEN, YOU WILL OBSERVE THAT SUCH PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR A “RACE” and not a “PERSON” and will often be attracted to or interested in EVERY OTHER ATTRACTIVE MEMBER OF THAT RACE. Tiger Woods and Boris Becker here in Europe are primary examples.
Also, ask yourself WHY this person has rejected a part of themselves.

Tiger’s preoccupation with white women was revealed long before he got married. I think that some although not all black women ARE sensitive to the notion that white women are seen as a prize possession by all races. Not just Tiger Woods. Men of power have more choices than anyone, yet regardless of their ethnicity, they typically go for white women. That is because Madison Avenue advertisers have positioned white women as the symbol of beauty. Fortunately, many men are immune to this brainwashing. Of course black women would be offended. The media has been denying us the God given right to be desirable.

Let me try to answer the original question:

I don’t think “Black Americans” can answer the question because Black men may have their answers and Black women will have theirs and they more than likely will be different.
As a Black women, I’m fine with Tiger or any Black man dating/marrying women that aren’t Black. However, in the case of Tiger, it kind of (in a weird way) would have been nice to see a Black woman thrown into the mix simply because it would have shown that he does think Black women are beautiful. Maybe he doesn’t think that but that preception displayed throughout the media would have been nice… It’s nice to know that people think Black women are beautiful. It builds our confidence and makes us feel good. All women want to know that people think they are beautiful.
Black women know they’re beautiful but we don’t see a lot of our beauty in the media and sometimes it appears as if just the opposite is being communicated when we see so many Black men in the media not choosing to have a Black woman by their side.
I don’t date exclusively outside my ethnic group, I think that’s strange. It almost makes a statement that you don’t like your ethnicity so you’re going to go get the ethnicity that’s prefered. I do however date men that are interested in me and usually those aren’t Black men. So what is a Black woman suppose to do? Just go with the flow…
I hope the day never comes where all humans are mixed into an ethnic group that looks the same because I truly believe our physical differences are what makes us beautiful. It’s unfortunate the story isn’t more about Tiger’s cheating ways instead of who he’s cheated with…

Brownclown i agree with everything you stated. That is one of the reason, I do not buy my neice barbies and the likes. I want her to know her self worth and be proud of how she looks and all of her from her naturally curly hair to her brown toes. Yes, I am so glad to read that many women are ready to face the fact that black women are not portrayed by the media as having natural beauty and that it is an affront to us. Unless our hair is straightened or weaved and our skin is light we are often marginalized or excluded in commercials, movies and in print ads. Robert Dinero is just one of a few famous bold men who has enough self confidence to decide for himself and not let advertisers dictate his choices. There are moral and ethical issues presented to the world as a family in crisis and from where I sit that has nothing to do with race or marriage preference and it is a problem affecting a great majority of Americans. If someone starts a chat like this it would seem to me that they are using this opportunity to vent their own racist points of view as if to antagonize a group of people and taunt them with age old offenses to get a reaction. Sorry for the typos earlier, but another thing… I feel sorry for him. If I was a young man paraded around the golf courts in all my spare time, what would I be thinking? Compare it to your own life. When I grew up I was in ___________ neighborhood. All my peers liked ___________. I liked ________.
See what I mean? The girls he spent time with and around probably were not black and when his friends came to him describing the baddest girl they had ever seen she probably wasn’t black so even if both of his parents were from an african american or “black” backround he would probably be with whatever he was around and most attracted to. There is a lot of imprinting that is done unconciously during the years of adolescence and his environment and friends have a big impact on that. Not to mention who knows what he was being told at home… If his mother is not black, why should his wife be black? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and his cultural upbringing had to include customs from both parents since he grew up with both parents and if you know anything about his father’s backround or his mother’s culture, that says alot about who Tiger Woods or any man is. I had no clue as to the extent of the hatred toward Barbara Becker. I was a big fan of Boris Becker before he started dating Barbara and became an even bigger fan when he started dating her. The man has a right to his preference. I find it funny how all of Boris’s women look like Barabra and Barbara’s new husband is a carbon copy of Boris. LOL
That’s too bad the Germans feel that way, but it obviously didn’t deter Boris because he continues to live his life the way he wants to. Which is the way it should be.

For the record, Tiger Woods’ father was mixed race – black, Native American, and Caucasian, and his mother is Asian, so that’s where he got “Cablanasian”. While most people likely don’t care whether he calls himself Cablanasian or not, I do think there are some black people who are very turned off by Tiger referring to himself as Cablanasian because they feel anyone who is even part black is going to be perceived as black by greater society (which is probably true, though there are many people, like myself, who see mixed race people as mixed race – because that’s what they are) and therefore they feel Tiger is fooling himself and should “own up” to being black, whatever that means.
Regarding Tiger’s preference in women, I think at least one of the women he’s been linked to is mixed race. I can’t recall for sure, even though I spend hours and hours watching tabloid TV (just kidding)!
My impression is that Tiger has a relatively immature conception of relationships and that he probably spent most of his teen years and early 20′s on golf, and his conception of women seems more informed by spending a lot of time reading Playboy magazine instead of going on actual dates. Then, suddenly he was incredibly rich and could get whatever he wanted, but still didn’t have time to work on learning what real relationships are about (too busy with golf and running his empire). So I think his alleged preference for white women stems more from him having a juvenile conception of relationships which was formed from spending a lot of time reading Playboy, Maxim, etc, instead of actually spending time on real dates and getting to know people deeply. Can the guy even go on a date right now? He can’t really go anywhere in public.

I have to say just because a black woman want to chage her appearance doesn’t mean she wants to be white…..That doesn’t make any sense what so ever. If you and others want to say that about black women, then you can say white women want to be black because she get tans, lip plumpers and now want to wear padded booty shorts to obtain a junky trunk.
What’s the big deal Ive seen white women wear hair pieces, weaves, but its ok it seems in “America Beauty” perspective…God forbid a sista want to get a relaxer and a weave…its the end of the world.
My question to you and others that are so concern about the esthetics of black women’s beauty is to realized what non black women do to make themselves appear more beautiful.
What get me are people talking all that nonsense when they are just like and/or similar to Tiger, some are on this website. I know this is an interracial dating site but there are black women on here trying to look like anything but black (weave, wigs, etc). lol. There are also black women who feel the need to put in their profiles that they are not interested in black men. Why make this a point? I’ve noticed few black men to do this. My take is that a good number of black women on this site are no better than Tiger because they are just like him, insecure of being black or partially black.

@yram, I respectfully disagree… You’re right that no ONE man or woman is responsible for building a black woman’s confidence but we’re not just talking about one man, because really, who cares about Tiger Woods, except for his family and friends. What happened with Tiger Woods has sparked these conversations and now we’re talking about what we see and hear in the media, in magazines, in the workplace, in the grocery stores, etc. There’s a perception, no, not a perception, a REALITY in the minds of the media gurus that black women are not naturally beautiful as brownclown stated in her post. It’s important to realize the power of the media because the media in all of its forums is filtered out to EVERYONE. And I think it’s extremely crucial for people to rise up against that very notion that black women aren’t naturally beautiful or else we’ll continue to see another generation of black women dramatically altering their appearances to obtain the ideal perception of beauty, which is becoming an unfortunate reality! Now of course, we have to find the beauty within us and project it outward but the unfortunate truths are some black women don’t know their beauty because they’ve never been told it and they’ve never been shown it AND, they don’t know where to look for it. They don’t have that circle around them displaying it so they turn to the media and the magazines, etc. I think it’s significant if black men and women could recognize the outer beauty that each other have and speak it! Whether we marry/hookup or not, appreciating each other’s beauty speaks volumes in shaping how one feels about themselves and how others look at you.
I can tell you have wonderful confidence and you probably display a strong sense of it in all aspects of your life. I would like to believe that other human beings between the time you were born and leading up to today had some positive influences in shaping that confidence and beauty within. Although it’s not your responsibility, there are a lot of young black girls/women out there that could surely use your help in building their confidence level too. And then maybe they could unleash their inner beauty for all to behold.

As BLK we’ve made the mistake of adopting other peoples standards of beauty as our own and this is proof of our self-alienation as a people.
Unless parents begin to ingrain an appreciation of self love and cultural indentity into their children, the children wont have a means to resist this unslaught of media programing of their minds as to what’s beautiful and what’s not.
Regardless if the media does this with the intention of damaging the self esteem of our people are not, just know that they have the ability to do so and we should arm our children with the means to resist this attack.
Now I know some white person is saying, “Ebony and Essence do the same in their magazines”, but keep in mind that those magazines are directed at BLK consumers in a store from a magazine rack in the check out line or the book section and not on TV.
First you must root your children in themselves, you must begin in the home. How can your children see beauty in themselves if they see no pictures of the beautiful people in which they come from.
You must ingrain an appreciation for the beauty of those who look like you in your children?
Growing up my mama and grandma had pictures all over the house of our family and extended family and they’d tell us stories about each of them. I grew up extremely proud of how I looked because I saw myself in many of the people who I’d heard so many stories about.
I was firmly rooted in myself FIRST!
Well isn’t this reaching racism? Is this anti multi-culturalism? Hell no, it’s common sense!
How can we expect our babies to have a healthy love of self when we’ve allowed them to attach to and indentify with everything and everybody but themselves. This is why they walk around hurt, angry and confused when society or whatever they’ve tried to indentify with rejects them.
It’s like a woman who identifies with, believes in and gives herself to man only to find out he doesn’t accept her and we all know that’s painful!
This is what our children go through because of our failure to root them in themselves, so they think in order to be beautiful they got to starve themselves down to 90 pounds, get blue contacts and dye their hair.
I’ll close on this, other people are going to validated their images of beauty and they’re not wrong but it’s not right that we fail to validate OUR own images of beauty amongst our selves.
Allow me to tell you, “YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!”

Come on now, age old topic. You should be able to look at Tiger Woods from a distance and tells that he only dates, marries, and has affairs with nothing but White women. In my opinion he did nothing wrong, he just got caught. his wife had to 9 iron him for something other than cheating. She probably gave him 3somes as well.

I think you might have misunderstood me. I didn’t say that Tiger’s parents are responsible for his cheating. I meant that from my observation and my understanding of his biography, his parents did not instill any racial identity and pride into him, and therefore his confusion.
I remember a scene in the film, where he was really shocked and confused that people were regarding him as “black.” He listened to white music, read only white literature and couldn’t even dance!
As for his sleeping around with different white women, I believe “EyesForEbony” hit the nail on the head! Nerdy golfer made good…..but no dating and social skills.

father,was one of the first African-American Big Eight base-ball players,under-going an awful racial ordeal of segregated accomodations and bigoted attitudes from team-mates,opponents,coaches,fans,etc.,which I’m certail he passed on to Tiger.
Secondly,because his wife,Kutilda,is a Korean,and they lived in a fairly integrated setting,Mr. and Mrs. Woods instilled in Tiger an understanding of diverse groups of people which
transcends whatever “race” Young Eldrick would be viewed,which is basically that focus on race is self-de-
