You probably are the type that would say arranged marriages aren’t your thing but from what I have heard from other cultures, they seem to work.
According to some CNN article, a young Indian woman explains that her parents are open to her dating and bringing home anyone she sees fit. But you know what? She “appreciated her parents doing the tough work of screening potential suitors.
Well, may be it’s not such a bad thing … having your parents hooking you up. But would you consider it? Is it something we could incorporate in our Western culture?
Tell me what you think.

I think the west always have the wrong impression of arranged marriage as forced marriage. There are cases of foreced marriage but not all arranged marriages are forced marriage. If someone makes an unbiased SWOT anaysis of the system of arranged marriage, then it is nothing but a form of strategic management for finding a good life partner. Strategic management is not a bad thing and it succeeds more than those relationship where people sleep around every weekend after frat parties, in the name of searching the “perfect one.”

there is no perfect one in life, people will always settle for what they can and will learn to live with it. so it don’t matter if you found the guy or girl on your own or if mommy and daddy did it for you. end if the day, you will always learn to settle. so hey, if some one were to find me a decent guy with good credit why not? beats the admin of having to deal with the shit heads of this world.

It works for some and it doesn’t work for others. The ultimate goal is finding a loving person you can spend your life with.

It all depends if you trust whoever is finding you a mate, and whether they understand you and what would be best for you.
