How would you describe yourself?
Please read my profile carefully before you contact me
Soooo, I'm a fruity burst of many flavors.....
first and foremost I am from one of the most beautiful countries in the world, A chain of 700 islands and cays (only about 35 of which are inhabited) called The Bahamas. Popular with sunworshippers, beach lovers, boaters and lovers of sports fishing as well as international bankers & their clients (for some reason or another). Its generally balmy and sunny here. We are a Commonwealth country and is very close in proximity to The United States of America ( 17 minutes from my home town Grand Bahama to West Palm Beach Fl)...The US visa requirement is somewhat partial towards Bahamians and most of us travel to and from with a police record in lieu of a visa. Many Bahamians in northern Bahamas, in particular the Island of Grand Bahama where I am from, go grocery shopping in Florida a few times a year. It's on a few hours by boat and on average, 17 minutes by jet.
Similarly, there is no red tape involved in traveling to the UK from The Bahamas because of our Commonwealth status. It's a shame I haven't made it out there as yet :-(.......Of all the nations in the west, Bahamians are found among the least to migrate.....And we're definitely not known for being scammers..... Are you relaxed with an open mind as yet? :-) just asking
About me?
Well my friends and family would describe me as a people person because i'm really down to earth and outgoing. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, learning from and sharing with them about our respective cultures and customs. Although I am an island girl, I am also one of life's little quirks in that I am more of an international thinker and see myself as a citizen of the global village.
I volunteer at a local community development center where I mentor stateless kids of migrant parentage who are enrolled in the program. They're great kids and they need lots of help and I love working with them.
I am spontaneous, funloving and sometimes funny.an outdoors person. I believe I was born outside..under a mango tree..jk
I enjoy gardening, entertaining, cooking, traveling, boating, singing (even though i'm no good at it). I'm always up for a good movie, Scifi, documentaries, comedy, action, drama (no horror - I prefer not to scare myself that way) and I am a secret fan of AMERICAN DAD..... I LOVE MUSIC.and i have a wide sense of appreciation for music of various genres but especially like jazz reggae soft rock and r& b.
To give you an Idea of my tempo here are some of my favorite:
Jah Cure - Good Morning Sunshine
George Michaels & Astrid Gilberto - Desafinado
Dennis Brown - Inseperable
Jazz - Ella Fitzgerald The nearness of you
Reggae - Damian Marley - There for you
R&B - Sade - Lovers Rock
Soft Rock - Radiohead - High & dry
R&B - Rihanna - Love on the brain
*Reggae - Jah9 Avocado :-)
I prefer intimate gatherings for fun with family and friends over clubs. People with a positive mental attitude exude an energy that is magnetizing...and I allow myself to be drawn to them. I dislike chaos especially in the form of loud and boisterous unpleasant personalities, deceitfulness, abuse...etc.
Family and close friends are important to me. My mom and I are close. My dad and I were even closer. I grew up in a small family with a few very good friends for whom I am grateful to have in my life. My son is my all...though I sometimes wish I had more kids (especially after he flew the coop)....But not a must.
I value respect and loyalty as I am a respectful person and a loyal friend and partner (sometimes to a fault). I believe that effective communication is paramount in any endeavor especially in relationship building. I have no time for men who don't respect value and cherish women.
In love, the queen in me sees the king in you (even if you don't) and responds accordingly.
Shay is your unconventional island girl with with international exposure. A woman of contradictions as she is a lover of luxury as well as simplicity.A once high flying corporate girl who opted out to be with nature and the natural..Because it felt right. She has a great sense of humor and can often be found on the porch with a glass of wine listening to Andy Narell Coffee Street or Ronnie Butler's water the garden (this will make you laugh) and or just having a great convo with good friends/family/patrons. Her Interests are wide and range from Politics to science to Religion, To Economics to Relationship to DIY/Crafting to The Esoteric......
There is so much more i'd like to share about me so i'll save the rest so that we'd have something to talk about when we connect :-)
PS
1. I am willing to relocate however the idea of rotating between our countries is even more appealing. Ideally switching between hotter and colder climates. Are you beginning to see how much I like contrast :-)
2. I run a small tiki/bush bar in the heart of Nassau (Not on the beach). Stop in and try our "Coco Nutcase"...its a delicious cocktail :-)
I am looking for
A Spiritual match...It is all knowing and all encompassing....He will be everything I want and everything I need...And I to him......
It's a vibration
there is more..Its always hard for me to say what I'm looking for in a man since the best parts of a relationship are the wonderful discoveries you make each day..I know that what i'm seeking is seeking me also......open the door and step into my universe. Its a beautiful place...if you have the eyes to see it :-)
